Breadth OF PRACTICE

Hello. I’m Lawson Caisley and this is Frances Le Grys, and we’re Lovells' recruitment partners.

We know when you’re applying for training contracts the big firms can appear pretty similar. They certainly all make similar claims about what they can offer you. But firms are different and those differences are important, and can have a significant impact on the experience you have during your training contract.

I think Lovells is different for two reasons. I think the first is in our breadth of practice – we have very strong areas of expertise in many different practice areas, and this is important for you. It means you have a more diverse experience during your training contract and a much wider choice on qualification.

The second difference I think is in the genuinely international nature of our practice. Over half of Lovells’ lawyers are in one of the 25 international offices outside of London. This means that high quality cross-border work is a daily reality in all of our practice areas.

Despite our size, we are very selective about who we recruit. We’ll only take people who we think have the right mix of intelligence, ambition and commercialism to succeed at Lovells in the long term. We’re not a Corporate M&A factory and we’re not looking for cannon fodder. We consider our trainees to be the future of the firm as demonstrated by the fact that over half the partners here in London, including Frances and me, trained with the firm.

We also want you to get first-hand experience of the culture of Lovells before you decide whether to join us. That’s why, on an assessment day, you’ll get to meet not only partners but also associates and current trainee solicitors.

We hope that you enjoy looking round the website. We hope it gives you an insight into the type of firm Lovells is and a real feeling for what it would be like to work here.
